Frequently asked questions
- How do I test an RTMP stream?
- Enter the full RTMP playback URL of your stream, for example rtmp://203.0.113.10:1935/live/stream. We pull the feed from your RTMP server and play about a minute of live video in your browser.
- Does this test RTMP push from OBS?
- This tool pulls an existing RTMP stream from a server, so it verifies that your RTMP server or relay endpoint is delivering video. To test pushing from OBS or an encoder, you need an ingest endpoint — create a free OctoStream account and follow our OBS guide to get an RTMP push URL.
- Why can't the tool connect?
- Your RTMP server must be reachable from the internet and must allow playback (pull) connections for the stream. Servers on a private LAN, or apps that only accept publishers, can't be tested this way.
- Is the stream recorded?
- The preview runs for about 60 seconds and nothing is recorded or stored. To restream RTMP to YouTube, Twitch, or your website 24/7, create a free OctoStream account.
